Team

Karim Hussein - Chief Executive Officer, Co-founder


Karim is responsible for the execution of our our corporate strategy and is responsible for marketing and business development. Prior to D-Kimia, Karim was Senior Vice President of Products and Engineering at WebMD, Inc, the leading US healthcare information provider. Previously, Karim was co-founder and CTO of Riskclick, Inc., a software firm specializing in commercial insurance applications. Before Riskclick, Karim was a management consultant at Booz Allen & Hamilton where he was a member of the Global e-Commerce team in London and New York.

Dr. Hussein received his Doctor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT and his BSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.

Karim is also an investor in range of startups in the healthcare and technology fields. He currently serves on the boards of Konnecti and Integreight.

Hassan Azzazy - President & Chief Science Officer, Co-founder


Hassan Azzazy received his PhD in Biomedical Sciences from University of North Texas health Science Center in Fort Worth, TX, USA. He was a postdoctoral fellow then an assistant professor in the Pathology and Medical Technology departments at University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD (1995-2002). He holds prestigious board certifications in Clinical Chemistry and Molecular Diagnostics from the American Board in Clinical Chemistry, Washington, DC. Dr. Azzazy currently serves as professor of Chemistry at the American University in Cairo. In 2009, he has founded the Novel Diagnostics and Therapeutics group at Yousef Jameel Science & Technology Research Center, AUC. He is recognized internationally as expert in the fields of clinical laboratory medicine, biotechnology, and nanodiagnostics. He actively collaborates with researchers in Japan, the Netherlands, Qatar, Portugal, and USA. Dr. Azzazy has received Excellence in Research and Teaching Awards from AUC and the State Prize in advanced technological sciences from the National Academy for Scientific Research & Technology.
